Hospice is not a place, but a concept of care. It is a philosophy based on the belief that people with advanced illness can live and die among family and friends in familiar surroundings. The mission of St. John's Mercy Hospice is to offer supportive care that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients, allowing them to live and die in strength and dignity.
From our offices in St. Louis and Washington, Missouri, St. John's Mercy Hospice provides vital end-of-life services to more than 1,140 patients and their families each year. Patients come from across St. Louis City and 13 surrounding counties. With a team of highly trained staff, including registered nurses, licensed clinical social workers, home health aides, chaplains and spiritual advisors, volunteers and support staff, we are available 24 hours a day to assist with the care of patients, regardless of their age, race, gender, creed, physical condition or ability to pay for services. The St. John's Mercy Hospice Memorial Fund, a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization, provides financial support and services for patients who lack financial resources, ensuring that all members of the community are served equally.
